IBC 2025 Preview: Cybersecurity concerns intensify as media infrastructure migrates to IP

As broadcasters embrace IP-based and cloud-integrated infrastructures, the industry faces an urgent challenge: keeping content and systems secure in increasingly complex workflows. In a recent IBC 2025 preview by NCS, experts highlight growing concerns that rapid technology adoption has outpaced security measures, leaving critical vulnerabilities across media production environments.

SipRadius founder and Chief Scientist Sergio Ammirata, Ph.D., warns of the escalating risk: “Sooner or later, there will be a high-profile, high-impact cybersecurity disaster, causing untold financial and reputational damage for the unfortunate business victim.”

Sergio advocates for a zero-trust security model as the only effective approach to protecting modern media workflows. He stresses the need for securing every device, node, and data pathway – from intercoms and document exchanges to program audio and video. “Only when you are certain that every single device and circuit is properly protected can you begin to think that your infrastructure is safe,” he explains.
