Sergio points to growing bandwidth contention and an expanded attack surface as more broadcast, events, and enterprise media workflows move onto shared infrastructure. With premium live content now travelling over the same networks as general data traffic, stability and security can no longer be treated as secondary concerns. Transport layers must be designed to cope with loss, congestion, and hostile environments without compromising latency or quality.

Rather than relying on best effort delivery, he highlights the importance of protocols such as RIST that are built to deliver consistent performance and encryption across diverse codecs and hybrid workflows, turning IP into a dependable backbone for live video delivery.
