2024 Wrap Up

2024 Wrap Up

As 2024 comes to an end, we’re taking a moment to reflect on the milestones that shaped our year. From advancing broadcast technology to participating in key industry events and receiving recognition, it’s been a great year of progress and innovation.

Here’s a look at some of our highlights from the past 12 months.

Making history at the Superbowl

Super Bowl LVII became the second most-watched event in US TV history in February, drawing 123.4 million viewers—second only to the moon landing in 1969. We played a role in this achievement, collaborating with BSI and the National Football League (NFL) to install 60 STBs for international commentary services. This project showcased how our solutions can deliver synchronized and engaging viewing experiences for fans worldwide.

FOSDEM’24

In February, the SipRadius team attended FOSDEM 2024, the annual open-source software event in Brussels, Belgium. This year’s conference featured 855 events across multiple rooms, including a presentation by Sergio Ammirata, Ph.D., on the RIST protocol titled “Streaming Live Using RIST on Demand to Thousands – How You Can Have Your Cake and Eat It Too.”

Picking the Right Codec for Mission-Critical Links

– Blog by Sergio Ammirata Ph.D.

When selecting a codec for mission-critical links, consider image quality, compression efficiency, processing resources, and intellectual property. SipRadius addresses these needs with real-time AV1 and JPEG-XS solutions, seamlessly integrated into MPEG-TS for high-quality, reliable transmissions. Read more>

SipRadius at NAB 2024

At NAB Show 2024, we showcased SOAR-A Powered by SipRadius at the FOR-A booth. We also demonstrated our ground-breaking live AV1 encoder and JPEG-XS encoding solutions, both delivered as MPEG-TS streams, designed for high-quality, low-latency video delivery in remote production applications.

Sergio presented at this year’s IP Showcase, discussing the use of RIST and IPMX protocols for secure, low-latency streaming to large audiences. He highlighted scalable architectures and advanced security measures, including SRP for end-to-end content protection.

CABSAT

At CABSAT we showcased, again, our ground-breaking live AV1 and JPEG-XS implementations over MPEG-TS transport streams. We also exhibited, on the FOR-A booth, SOAR-A powered by SipRadius. These solutions set new benchmarks for quality, efficiency, and stability in contribution links and remote production workflows.

Broadcast Asia

In May we were in Singapore for BroadcastAsia, where we showcased alongside our partner Elevate Broadcast Pte Ltd. We exhibited our innovative live AV1 and JPEG-XS solutions over MPEG-TS transport streams, emphasizing quality, efficiency, and stability in remote production. The event also featured Sergio Ammirata, Ph.D., presenting on IPMX and RIST streaming applications.

A year of recognition

This year, SipRadius was honored to be nominated and shortlisted for several industry awards, highlighting the impact of our innovations. A highlight moment was winning the TVBEurope Best of Show Award at IBC2024 for our SipVault solution. We’re proud to have our efforts recognized and look forward to continuing to push the boundaries in broadcast technology next year.

SipRadius at IBC2024

We had a great time in Amsterdam for IBC2024, showcasing our solutions, networking, and even taking home a TVBEurope Best of Show Award for our recently released SipVault. Exhibiting alongside our partner Mistserver, the show was the debut for two of our major innovations of 2024: SipVault and MRTC.

SipVault is a secure intercom and messaging system integrated into IP media streams, enabling real-time, encrypted communications for remote production teams. It combines ultra-low latency intercom, secure chat, and media exchange, tailored specifically for broadcast needs. Read more>

MRTC is a compact, cost-effective device addressing remote IP production timing challenges. By creating a local PTP/NTP master clock using GPS and cellular signals, MRTC ensures precise synchronization without the complexities of transferring PTP across remote networks. Read more>

New libRIST Release for Secure Media Connectivity

SipRadius and the RIST Forum have released version 0.2.11 of the libRIST library, further simplifying the development of interoperable IP media production and delivery tools. This update enhances RIST’s capabilities for secure, low-latency streaming, adding features like ephemeral listening ports to optimize network scaling and cloud resource usage. Read more>

Is Your Infrastructure Truly Secure and Redundant?

Blog by Sergio Ammirata Ph.D.

Hurricane Helene taught us an invaluable lesson: even Tier-3 datacenters have vulnerabilities. A power outage rendered our datacenter inaccessible, forcing us to rethink our disaster recovery strategy.
We’re shifting to a model where our office serves as the primary site with smaller, virtualized replicas in remote datacenters. This setup ensures faster recovery and greater control over critical systems. Read more>

New branding launch

We introduced a fresh new brand identity and launched a redesigned website this year. The updated branding reflects our focus on innovation and adaptability. The changes align with our commitment to providing advanced solutions for the broadcast industry.

Thank You!

Thank you to our clients, partners, and industry colleagues for your support and collaboration throughout 2024. Your trust and partnership have been invaluable, and we look forward to working together in the year ahead.
